Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted its first Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) Express Entry draw of the month of December, extending 676 invitations to apply (ITAs) to potential immigrants.

Key Draw Details

  • Minimum CRS Score: 705
  • Draw Type: Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

Emerging Immigration Trends

The recent draw reflects ongoing strategic priorities in Canadian immigration:

  1. Targeted Immigration Streams: Consistent draws for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Provincial Nominee Program candidates continue to demonstrate Canada’s commitment to selecting skilled immigrants already familiar with the Canadian labor market.
  2. New “In-Canada” Focus Category: A recently established immigration pathway specifically targets candidates from the CEC and regional programs. This category has been allocated 82,980 permanent resident (PR) admissions, representing over 40% of planned admissions for the upcoming year.
  3. Francophone Immigration Strategy: French-speaking immigrants are poised to see significant opportunities, with PR admissions for French speakers outside Quebec increasing to 29,235 in 2025. The IRCC plans further growth in French-speaking immigrant admissions through 2026 and 2027.

These developments underscore Canada’s nuanced approach to immigration, balancing economic needs with strategic demographic goals.
